As a young boy, whenever I tried to complain about something my grandmother would always say “Things happen for a reason.”. I’d look at her and shrug my shoulders, having absolutely no idea what she meant by that. Fast forward nearly 20 years later (gosh I’m getting old) and that saying couldn’t be any clearer. In fact, it’s become a saying that I live by.
In my early 20’s I was lucky enough to interview for several very high paying jobs, but for some reason I would never get hired. I would ace tests and have wonderful interviews but I would never get that call back. At the time I was very distraught. Borderline depressed. I ended up having to settle for a job at my local Pizza Hut. Getting paid to deliver pizzas for minimum wage wasn’t where I saw myself but it was my reality.
One Sunday night I felt myself start to feel a little depressed about my financial situation and then it dawned on me. Maybe it wasn’t meant for me to get those jobs. Maybe God had something better planned for me. I went to sleep that night feeling much better than I had in weeks.
Literally the next morning out of nowhere I had this great idea, after a few hours of research I started my own company, which became pretty successful over the next few weeks. The moral of this post is a simple one; Things happen for a reason.
